When it comes to expanding the classroom's horizon, a well-planned educational field trip could be just the ticket. If you're currently contemplating where to take your students on their next educational outing, look no further! We're thrilled to invite you to The Pleasley Pit Trust.

This unique opportunity provides a rich, immersive experience for your pupils, engaging them in real-world learning beyond the confines of their traditional classroom environment.

How do you get this ball rolling? Just reach out to one of our devoted Project Workers on:

We are on hand to help you arrange your school trip, ensuring that your visit is well coordinated and fulfils the educational objectives you have for your class. They will guide you through the booking process, answer any questions you may have, and confirm your preferred date and time slot, our schedule for school visits is every:

Wednesday or Thursday from 10:00 to 14:00

We've purposefully chosen these days and times to accommodate most school schedules while also maximising the amount of time your students can spend learning and exploring.

Your class will be able to participate in engaging and educational activities. And while we'd love to accommodate as many students as possible, please note that we can handle a group of up to 30 students at a time. This limitation helps us maintain an intimate learning environment and ensures that each student receives individual attention, thus maximising the educational value of the trip.

Our coal mining museum is a place full of potential learning and fascination for our young visitors, particularly the winding wheel engines. Our team of volunteers help to bring the stories of coal mining to life through the sharing of real life experiences for coal miners and their families. We have lots of artifacts for touching, smelling and hearing too.

Our Nature Reserve is teeming with various activities to spark your students' curiosity and encourage their sense of discovery. They'll have the chance to learn about local wildlife, providing an excellent opportunity to reinforce any biology or environmental science lessons. Their day might include pond dipping, where they can observe life in a different habitat and understand the ecological balance of our nature reserve.

Additionally, the students can go on a mini beast safari - a hands-on learning experience that introduces them to smaller, often overlooked creatures and highlights their importance in our ecosystem. They can also participate in bird tours to learn more about avian species native to our county.

Seasonal walks offer a myriad of learning opportunities, too. Depending on the time of year, different plants and animals can be observed, and different environmental phenomena discussed, which helps students understand the changing nature of ecosystems.

Convenience is essential when organising a school trip, and we've got you covered. To ensure a smooth day, we provide an on-site classroom where you can conduct follow-up discussions or activities. Rest assured, we also have clean, accessible toilets on site to cater to the basic needs of your students and staff throughout the day.

Organising a school trip might seem daunting at first, but rest assured that we are here to help you every step of the way. Our ultimate goal is to create a unique, fulfilling and memorable educational experience for each student. We believe that the immersive nature of our field trips can help reinforce classroom teachings, in areas of local and natural history, STEM related topics and helping to nurture inquisitive engineering minds, a love for nature and a greater understanding of our local are and environment.

So, why wait? Book your trip today, and let's embark on this educational journey together!
